Safe removal & nail care

Proper take-off of gel, acrylic or polish — including a set someone else did — followed by treatment for the nail and cuticle underneath. Worth booking rather than dealing with at home.

Why picking it off is the problem

This is the single most common cause of the damage people blame on gel and acrylic. When you pick or peel a set off, it does not separate cleanly — it takes layers of your natural nail plate with it.

That is what leaves nails thin, bendy, white-patched and sore. It is not the product. It is the removal.

A proper removal breaks the bond rather than tearing it, so the nail underneath stays intact.

Coming from another salon

Completely normal, and a common reason people book. Whether you were happy with the set or not, it can be taken off properly and your nails assessed before anything new goes on.

Mention it when you book so enough time is set aside — removing someone else's product takes longer than removing a set you know, because the product and thickness are unknown until you start.

What the appointment includes

  • Careful removal of existing gel, acrylic or polish
  • Gentle buffing to even the natural nail surface
  • Cuticle work and tidying
  • Nourishing treatment for nail and cuticle
  • An honest read on the condition of your nails and whether they need a break

If your nails need a break

Sometimes the right advice is to leave them bare for a while, and you will be told that rather than sold a new set.

Nails grow out roughly 3mm a month, so a full regrowth takes around six months — but they feel and look markedly better long before that. In the meantime, daily cuticle oil does more than any strengthening polish.

Questions about this service

Can you remove a set done at another salon?

Yes, and it is a common reason people book. Mention it when you book so enough time is allowed — unfamiliar product takes longer to remove safely than a set we applied.

Does removal damage your nails?

Done properly, no. The damage people associate with removal comes from picking, peeling or prying a set off at home, which takes layers of the natural nail with it.

My nails feel thin and bendy. What should I do?

Book a removal and have them looked at. Thin, flexible nails usually recover with time, daily cuticle oil and a break from product — and you will get a straight answer about whether a break is what yours actually need.

Can I have a new set applied at the same appointment?

Yes. Say so when you book, so the removal and the new set are scheduled together rather than squeezed into a removal slot.
